ACOUSTIC BLUES CLUB

First night a success

The first meeting of the Wokingham Folk and Acoustic Blues Club may not have been packed to the rafters but there was a good turnout and those that came agreed it was a very entertaining evening.

To start with the only performers were the two founders, Bruce Neil and Chris Jones, together with Bex Jones. Chris and Bruce treated the audience to a a wide range of covers, from Joni MItchell to Lucky Jim and acoustic Eric Clapton, while Bex played her own songs, which were very well received.

Towards the break Chris and Bruce were becoming concerned that they would run out of songs when the cavalry arrived in the shape of Patrick Wass.

Patrick is a well travelled man and entertained the audience with stories of his travels and songs to go with them. Some of his songs were poignant observations of other countries and their cultures. Other were simply hilarious - his song about morris dancing, the London Marathon and Tesco's car park in particular.

Towards the end of the evening Chris even managed to persuade Ian Archibald, fellow band member in Junction 13, to join him on stage to perform Cockney Rebel's 'Come up and see me'.

Here's to the next time - Thursday 21st October!!

Don't be shy, come along and play.

Special thanks to Laura Hanton - official club photographer. The photos are great but, if you could make me look a little younger next time, it would be appreciated :)
